At our first class meeting on April 4, 2013, we are pleased
to have Dean Six as our guest
speaker. Mr. Six is one of the nation’s
leading authorities on glass and is certainly the best resource we could ever
find to discuss the history of glass in West Virginia.
He holds a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from West Virginia
University and has always loved glass.
He expresses that love by sharing his passion through the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia
located in Weston, West Virginia.
He has written several books on glass including two that you
will be given as part of this project, West
Virginia Glass Towns and West Virginia Glass Between the World Wars. He has also
written Viking
Glass 1944-1970, American
Machine-Made Marbles and Lotus:
Depression Glass And Far Beyond. He
has also been a contributor to many other books and publications dealing with
West Virginia history. His writing was
also featured in a recent cover feature of Wonderful West Virginia. You will also be receiving a copy of that issue at
our first glass meeting.
