Week 2: Technology

It looks like Christmas has come early with all the technology that you will be receiving on week two of class. With the advent of common core literacy standards, the goal for this week is to be able to integrate speaking within your classroom. Within the first semester I had my students work on a writing prompt in which they had to record themselves and post to the class blog. The students and myself noticed the mistakes once the paragraphs were read verbatim out loud. The program that I use for this is known as audioboo, which allows for up to three minutes of recording with unlimited amount of sound recordings. The great thing about this application is that you are able to embed the audio within a blog or a website.

Things to do before next meeting 4/18/13

  • Download the following apps: Blogger, Feedly, Audioboo, Vimeo, and Google Drive
  • Group 1 Presentations of Glass Town: Danielle Vance, David Williams, Kellie Wood, Chris Colegrove, Carla Snell, Wendy Chapman, William Strait, Brian McNeel
  • Week 2 Blog Post
    • Use audioboo to create a podcast and embed within a post
      • This could be a summary of Dean Six presentation or something that will help you in your class.
